Hatchet for cutting of hands and feets
Cutting the hands of a thief is still common nowadays in some Islamic countries. In Europe, it was a daily procedure till the end of the 18th century. Lucky was the thief who only suffered one cut! Another punishment consisted in using a hammer, an anvil and an iron wedge till the hand was beaten to a bloody pulp.
